This photo represents the Principle of Design known as 'proportion.' On the bottom right third-line, one can notice a surfer in the ocean. The purpose for the inclusion of this surfer was to compare his/her size with the ocean and the clouds. It is obvious how small the surfer is compared to the ocean. The black and white color choice as well as the situation of the photo give the image an ominous feel--as if this ocean and its waves are larger than life. This was taken at Ocean Beach, San Francisco in the late afternoon.
